  1. Dubai Family Visa Requirements

Contrary to popular belief, the Dubai family visa rule specifies that handing out a family visa is not contingent upon the educational background or profession. Instead, the income of the resident seeking a family visa for his family will be considered. This condition has made the process of obtaining a family visa simple because it doesn’t matter what profession you are in you just need to have enough financial means and a valid visa to sponsor your family members. Remember, it is smart to check your UAE visa status before initiating the process of sponsoring your loved ones. 

The conditions of sponsoring your family for a family visa are different for male and female residents. 

  1. Any male resident can sponsor his family for a family visa if he’s employed in the UAE and is making a minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 along with accommodation. Note that this was not the case before 2019 when individuals from only specific professions could sponsor family members. 
  2. For female resident looking to sponsor her family must hold a resident permit specifying that she is either an engineer, a teacher, a doctor, a nurse, or any other professional in the healthcare sector. Moreover, she must also be earning a minimum income of over AED 10,000 or AED 8,000 along with accommodation. If the female resident is not from the specified category, then she must seek permission from DNRD whilst also earning a minimum salary of AED 10,000 or 8,000 and accommodation. 

2. Family Visa Rules for Children Sponsored by a Parent

In 2022, the government of UAE made some amendments to its visa policy. According to these amendments, after 2022 residents are allowed to sponsor male children up to the age of 25 or below. For female children, the rules remained the same with no age limit on how long parents can sponsor their daughters they can be sponsored till they get married. Differently, abled children can be granted a permanent residency permit irrespective of how old they are. A bonus for this type of family visa is that parents will not be required to place bank deposits that amount to AED 5,000. The new family visa in the UAE price may be around AED 100 for first-time issuance and renewal.

  1. Documents Requirement for Sponsoring Wife and Children

The following list of documents is required to sponsor a wife and children for a family visa in UAE:

  • Employee’s income certificate stating the monthly income of the employee granted by the employer
  • Registered and authenticated tenancy agreement/contract 
  • Pictures of the wife and the children 
  • Copies of passports of both, the wife and the children 
  • Complete the online application or through a registered typing office 
  • A medical clearance certificate from a viable healthcare facility for the wife, and children above the age of 18
  • Legalized marriage certificate
  • The most recent utility bill
  • A copy of the expat’s employment contract or company contract

Who Can You Sponsor for a UAE Family Visa?

Although both female and male expatriates can sponsor family members to obtain a family visa in the UAE. It is however much easier for a male expatriate to do so than a female expatriate. 

If you are a man employed in the UAE and on a Residence Visa, you are allowed to sponsor the following family members for a Family Visa to the UAE:

  1. Wife: You can sponsor your wife for a spouse visa granted that you provide the specified documentation along with authentic proof of the relationship. You can even sponsor two wives, given that they meet the requirements set by GDRFA.
  2. Sons: You can sponsor your son till the age of 25. There are no age restrictions for sons who are special. 
  3. Daughters: Residents can sponsor their daughters for a family visa until they get married. 
  4. Parents: The expatriate has to obtain a medical insurance policy for each parent, this must be renewed annually. If the parents are sponsored for a year’s stay, then the expatriate must pay a deposit of AED 2500 for each parent. As per GDRFA, you must sponsor both parents together. With athletic proof that they have no one to look after them back home. Most importantly, you must have a monthly income of AED 20,000 or AED 19,000 plus accommodation with two bedrooms. 
  5. Stepchildren: Any expatriate is allowed to sponsor a stepchild given that the sponsor submits a deposit for each child. Along with a no-objection certificate from the biological parents. The visa is valid for one year but can be renewed annually.
